Newzoo & TikTok: Gamers that use TikTok
About 49% of mobile gamers are using TikTok. Stats are based on a survey of 10.8 thousand gamers in 13 countries.
TikTok users, on average, are playing 36% more, than those who are not using an app. They’re also installing 50% more games, and the conversion rate into payment is higher by 40%.
TikTok users are playing more game genres. On average, the TikTok-gamer is playing 7.1 different genres. While non-TikTok-gamer is playing only 4.2 genres.
TikTok-gamers are more tend to socialize. On average, by 70%.
In the majority of countries, TikTok helps reach the audience, which is hard to reach via other marketing channels.
About 70% of mobile gamers think, that TikTok game advertisement attracts more attention than ordinary ads.

Newzoo: Mobile Gaming Market revenue in 2021 reached $93.2B
It’s 52% of the overall gaming market revenue.
Growth to 2020 resulted in 7.3% despite the high base effect.
The largest markets are China ($32B), the US ($15B), and Japan ($13.7B).
By 2024 the mobile gaming market will reach a $116B valuation.

The majority of game developers now working on games for PC (63%). Mobile devices share is just about 30%.
If we’re talking about future projects, 58% of developers want to make the PC title. Mobile device popularity decreases - just 28%. Because it’s not about art, it seems.
In 2013 about 55% of developers wanted to make the game on mobile. Since then, the hype halved.
About 20% of developers want to make the Nintendo Switch game.
Only 7% of game developers are interested in NFT and Blockchain. 21% are just want to understand how it works. 70% are not interested at all. And the other 2% are doing something in this direction.
The majority of game developers are spending at work 40 or fewer hours per week. However, 40% of professionals are surpassing this amount every week.
73% of gaming industry representatives are men. 4% are non-binary persons.

Apptopia: Netflix Games downloads surpassed 8M
There are 12 games currently available on the platform.
Teeter (Up) is the most popular game on the platform with 820k downloads. It’s one of the projects that was released with the platform launch.
Kickstarter: Video Games collected $21.8M in 2021
It’s 4.8% lower than in 2020 ($22.9M).
The number of successful campaigns in 2021 increased. 428 in 2021 versus 408 in 2020.
It’s important to mention that 2020 became the most successful year for the videogames segment on the platform. Previously, the amount of collected money never surpassed $16.5M.
Everything is good with tabletop games. They’ve collected $270M - it’s 13.5% growth compared to 2020.

GSD: 170M games were sold in Europe in 2021
A number of 170M includes PC & consoles. This is a 9.5% decline compared to 2020, but, if we will write off the anomaly year, we can see a 12.3% growth to 2019.
FIFA 22 is the most successful game in Europe. It’s performed 17% better than FIFA 21. By sales, it overpassed GTA V by almost two times. Yeah, GTA V is the second game (after so many years).
Games released in 2021 were responsible only for 29% of the revenue. Others came from a game released in previous years.
7.1M consoles were sold in Europe in 2021. It’s 20% higher than in 2020.
Nintendo Switch is the best seller (however, sales decreased by 6%). PS5 is in second place, Xbox Series X is in third.
20.2M accessories were sold in 2021. 5.4% growth and the leader is DualSense.
Roblox: 2021 numbers
49.4M users played Roblox daily in 2021. In the previous year, this number was about 32.6M.
The most engaged users are from the US, Brazil, and the UK. Russia is in sixth place.
The number of developers in Roblox increased in 2021 by 335%.
The US is in the first place by a number of Roblox developers. Brazil and Russia are next.
Epic Games Store generated $840M of sales in 2021
Games from third-party developers earned $300M. It’s 36% of overall storefront revenue.
The increase in revenue to 2020 was about 20%.
There were 917 games available in the EGS by the end of 2021.
The number of EGS users is now about 194M. The year before this number was about 160M.
Peak MAU - 62M. Peak DAU - 31.3M. Peak CCU - 13.2M. It’s interesting, that peak CCU almost didn’t change since 2020.
