GameRefinery: MMORPG on iOS in China earned $468.76 million in Q1 2021
Note: GR graphics included only new subgenres, that were added to the service in April 2021.
Match 3 on iOS in the US received $202.4 million in Q1 2021. Turn-based RPG’s on iOS in Japan earned $279.4 million in the same period.
Subgenre called “Other Casino” was represented by 22 projects in the Chinese top-500. For comparison, in other countries, there were from 1 to 9 games of this subgenre in top-500.
Social Casino (like Coin Master) is responsible for 1.93% of iOS gaming market revenue in the US.
Sensor Tower: Players spent $5B in 5 years in Pokemon Go
In the first half of 2021, the project earned $641.6 million.
Worth mentioning that the project is constantly growing. From the H1 2020, it showed a growth rate of 34%, thanks to the pandemic.
2020 was a record year for Pokemon GO - it ended with $1.3 billion of revenue.
The US is a top region for the project. $1.9 billion (36.6% of whole revenue) came from the US. Japan is in second place (32%), Germany is third (5.4%).
Niantic received $2.7 billion (52.8%) from Google Play and $2.4 billion (47.2%) from App Store.
Pokemon GO was downloaded 632 million times. Google Play was accountable for 487 million (77%) of those downloads.
AppMagic: Top Mobile Games by Revenue and Downloads in June 2021
Downloads
Bridge Race from Supersonic Studios tops the downloads rating. The game had 35.3 million downloads, 31.8 million of which are from Google Play.
Fat 2Fit! from Voodoo received 19.8 million downloads (5.4M came from iOS).
iOS-version of Chinese browser game Mole Manor, released in 2008, achieved 5.5 million downloads in June.

PUBG Mobile received $123 million of revenue in June.
The Honor of Kings is leading the iOS chart with $98.3M of revenue. As for Google Play, Lineage M ($71M) is on top.
There are 2 new games in top - Mole’s World with $36.4M (#10 on iOS charts). And Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds with $50M and 7th place at Google Play charts.
Newzoo: LATAM market in 2021 is valued at $3.5 billion
48% of all revenue comes from mobile devices.
58% of the Latin American population - 273.4 million users - are playing mobile games.
Brazil is the largest region marketing in terms of both revenue and players. It’s $1 billion in size and has 88.4 million players.
The second in size is Mexico (about $900 million). Argentina and Columbia are settled behind.
By 2024 the Latin American market will reach $5.1 billion.
Currently, the LATAM market has 351.9 million smartphone users. By 2023 there will be 400 million.
More than a half are paying in games.
Google Play is responsible for 68% of the market revenue. iOS has 29.9% of market share, alternative stores - 1.5%.
35% of Latin American players played strategies in the past half a year. 32% played shooters and 30% - racing games.
An average Latin American gamer is a man or woman in the age of 21-35 with a high income.
Cybersport market in the region will earn $47.5 million by the end of this year (+16% YoY).
Niko Partners: Do not expect the Chinese Console Market to become massive
By the end of 2025, the console market revenue will reach $2.46 billion. It’s just 2.9% of the overall Chinese gaming market.
The main troubles are connected to strict licensing policy for foreign companies and mobile games popularity.
Currently, only 22 games are officially licensed for Nintendo Switch. PS5 and Xbox Series S|X were launched without any officially licensed games. Sackboy: A Big Adventure received a license only a month after the release.
Main opportunities for the Chinese console market - cross-platform games and indie titles from the Chinese developers.
